Annual Technical Support
Overview
MG Technologies has provided CICS, VTAM, VSAM, and other technical
services for over 20 years. Clients have typically paid for one or
more weeks of service to install or tune an operating system component.
Many clients have also used our application assistance and training. In
both cases using "project oriented" contracts. We would like to introduce
a more cost effective service: our annual technical support services.
A long term non-hourly contract provides you with more of our services,
time, training, and software for a lower price. It also allows us to
provide follow-ups, tuning and maintenance on a continual basis. We
believe that an annual support contract with MG Technologies has more
value per dollar than any other support method from anyone else.
But I Already Have Technical Support
Most of our clients already have technical support staff. However, they
need our assistance for one or more reasons:

Most technical support staff do not have the time to take a proactive
approach. Many are "fighting fires" that always seem to be occurring.
Our job is to prevent fires from occurring. This frees up the on-site
staff for more productive work.

Our knowledge far exceeds that of most on-site staff. That is simply
because of our diverse experience with hundreds of different
environments. We often provide problem solutions within minutes or
hours after a call. Sometimes, after someone has already spent days
or weeks on the same problem.

That same knowledge also allows us to install a product such as a new
CICS within 5 days. This saves enormous time. We do in days or weeks
what most people do in months.

Many application programmers would like to interface with a designer
who can address performance, reliability or other application issues
based on years of field experience. They would also like to have
diagnostic support that other staff may not have time to provide.

An outside person can provide valuable training to the technical,
application and operation staff.

We are well connected to IBM and other software vendors. We are aware
of problems before they strike. We usually order program updates when
we know that they apply to your environment, but before a problem can
occur.

Since we are well connected to IBM, we are aware of future releases of
operating systems, CICS and other products. Although in many cases we
cannot divulge what we know, we can plan for the future changes. This
reduces future compatibility problems and shortens the time it takes
to upgrade software.

Because we have to provide so many different software and hardware
solutions, we keep well informed about various products. We have a
library of hardware and software vendors. We have evaluated many
different hardware and software products. When you need something
special, we can often provide a quick reference.

We can even provide some hardware at discounts. We work with hardware
vendors to provide "volume discounts" to our clients even when they
want to buy one item.
Why Not Use a Per Hour Contractor?
MG Technologies provides long term solutions and assistance that can
only be provided by continual review of the system. Hourly contractors
typically do only what is necessary and leave. We are there to
continually monitor and suggestions or changes that we may have
implemented.
